Thinking Chaos, Thinking Fences

All speech, written or spoken, is a dead language, until it finds a willing and prepared hearer. -- Robert Louis Stevenson

I've got internesia regarding how I found this link, but I enjoyed reading this treatise on shoplifting. It dubiously couches base theft in the context of counter-capitalism dogma, but it's nonetheless an interesting read.

Via the New York Times, which has a cool receive-customized-news-via-email service, I read about Pop Culture Junk Mail, a portal site for all things vacuous and short-lived.

Being a pop culture junkie myself, I've recently spent some time with Television without Pity. A swell URL, and a fine source of cynical TV op-ed. For example, I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic, but I take it this "American Idol" thing is all the rage in the New World. It's no surprise, as it seems that every person in the British isles watched its predecessor "Pop Idol" over here. No less than three of the top ten singers hit the charts after the show, but I believe their fifteen minutes of fame are drawing to a close. If only Fame Tracker had a British edition.
