IceRocket

Mark Cuban, billionaire basketball team owner, is involved with IceRocket, a, wait for it, search engine company. Now clearly Cuban has lots of money, and is apparently keen to spend it in all sorts of unusual ways, but can you think of a worse investment than a search engine company? The rules of the Internet marketplace dictate that it’s going to take something pretty profound to unseat Google. Given that IceRocket’s UI is almost identical to Google’s, and the differentiators that Cuban describes, I don’t think they’re going to topple the king any time soon.

In truth, it’s not apparent whether Cuban has actually invested in the company, nor is there much information on the company itself.

That said, I was pleased to see that IceRocket puts me ahead of that wanker Darren Hayes for searches on “Darren”. Google has me second.

Google is God! If you can’t find it with Google it doesn’t exist.
