Spreading Firefox, Again

Get Firefox!Mozilla users, skip this post.

This is a recurring public service announcement in support of the good folks at Mozilla and SpreadFirefox.com. The latter group is running an exceptionally successful campaign to raise money and run a full-page ad in the New York Times. From the looks of things, they’ve easily raised over US $200,000 in the last week. Given that I use their tool all day, every day, more than anything else on my machine, I couldn’t not give them a donation.

Why are you still using Internet Explorer? If you’re required to by your work, that’s forgivable. What about the rest of you? Not only is Firefox faster and more secure, but it’s a superior product. Download it now and discover the wonderful world of tabbed browsing. Every person I’ve shown Firefox to has started using it and never gone back to the old and busted IE.

By the way, I’m not just talking to the geeks here. They, for the most part, have already switched. I’m talking to you normal humans. Trust me on this, it’ll make improve Internet surfage by at least 84%. I was reminded to spread the good news by this Slashdot thread.

Yeah. Mozilla Good. What he said. I don’t even like tabbed browsing (for most things — it has it’s uses) but Mozilla is still Superior and Good.

Been using Firefox for only a couple of months, and find it frustrating that some sites aren’t loading as well, and not at all sometimes. Ditto for Mozilla which I got my brother to start using.
I’m not dissing FF or Moz, open to alternatives because I’m absolutely not in ~heart~ with Windows or any other MS product right now.

Preach, brother Barefoot. FireFox absolutely rocks. Without tabbed browsing my bloglines usage would be crippled. The minute I found the spreadfirefox site I contributed to the cause. I’m wondering if I can get a copy of the ad here in Dublin? I suppose Eason’s is the place to go. It’ll be interesting trying to find my name among the 7,500 odd people who have contributed.

Woohoo Firefox!

My parents have been using Firefox / Thunderbird for around 6 months now. They’re pretty computer illiterate, and even they can see improvements.

I’ve heard of people having some trouble with websites, but I haven’t actually noticed any trouble at all with any sites that I go to. Then again, most sites I go to are technical, and those people usually design their sites with standards compliance in mind (except for slashdot, of course).

I’ve been using Opera for a couple of years, and quite like it. I tried Firefox, and it just wasn’t the same. Too many ‘features’ were not included, and often the plugins required major tweaking. Also, the pop-up blocker interface sucked some major ass. Having said all that, it still knocks the pants off IE. For sites that don’t absolutely require IE. Grr.
