Client Plug: Nooked
I don’t often discuss clients, but a significant chunk of my readership is into all things bloggy and RSS, so it seems applicable. We’ve recently started doing some work with Nooked, a software company that offers an RSS publishing service for corporate communications. The idea here is that companies can get themselves an RSS feed without setting up or running a weblog. RSS obviously had plenty of traction in the technology and media sectors, so Nooked seems like a good fit.
The first question I asked Fergus (the CEO) when he told me about Nooked was “why wouldn’t a company just set up a weblog?” As you know, I think they’re a pretty good idea. However, lots of individuals and companies aren’t ready to hop on the blog bandwagon yet. They think they lack the technical know-how, the staff resources, and the online savvy. An RSS feed is a decent middle-road to push out your company’s news. Furthermore, the emergence and growth of RSS-based services like Technorati and PubSub demonstrate its importance to the information marketplace. More importantly, Nooked offers stats for their feeds. Stats like these are the only decent ROI-type measurement for corporate RSS.
Current Nooked competitors are FeedForAll (a desktop solution) and IceRocket’s recently-announced RSS Builder (the free and cheerful option, thanks to Steve for the link).
You can sign up for a free trial of Nooked, or read the whitepaper I wrote for more information. The folks at Nooked also have a weblog.
