We Built This Starbucks

You know how, when you’re at work, and you accidentally happen upon some porn on the Web, and yelp and rush to close your browser or email client or whatever? I just did that. Except it wasn’t to close down porn, it was to stop the ear-melting harmonies of the Starbucks corporate anthem, “We Built This Starbucks”.

It’s based on a song that was pretty lame by itself–Jefferson Starship’s “We Built This City”. Yet, they managed to make it much, much worse. You can listen to all 4 minutes and 58 seconds (does it really have to be nearly 5 minutes?) at Gawker.

    “We Built This City” was recently listed the worst rock-n-roll song of all time by Blender magazine, by the way, so if this makes it worse, well, that says something.
