Who Should Play Wonder Woman?
I see, via Slashdot and various other places, that Buffy auteur Joss Whedon is going to write and direct an adaptation of Wonder Woman:
“There’s no one better than Joss to adapt the legendary Wonder Woman comic book character created in the 1940s into a dynamic feature film for 21 st century audiences,” producer Joel Silver added. “Wonder Woman was the first great female superhero to emerge from comic books and later inspire millions of fans in her television incarnation, but unlike her counterparts Batman and Superman, this groundbreaking heroine has yet to be reinvented for the feature film arena.”
I’m a big fan of Whedon, and am glad he’s writing the screenplay as well. But who will play Wonder Woman? Here’s a short list of potentials (heh), in descending order of preference:
- Carrie Anne Moss
- Sarah Michelle Gellar
- Jennifer Garner
- Catherine Zeta Jones
- Angelina Jolie
- Winona Ryder
- Lucy Lawless
Ms. Moss would be a great choice, because she’s mature (as I’ve always thought of Wonder Woman as 35 or so) and has that wonderful haunted quality.
