Singer Sells Shares of His Career on eBay
Shayan (his only name, apparently) is thinking outside of the box. He’s selling shares of his musical future to fund his demo recordings:
“I kind of understood how the industry worked in terms of the royalties scheme, so I put up an auction as an individual saying that if you invest £3,000 in me, I’ll give you a quarter percent of my life’s earnings in music.
“Who would have thought that in a week’s time, I would have got three people to invest £9,000.”
As with many such innovations, the press surrounding the innovation will be worth way, way more than the £9,000. Here’s the auction itself.

If only I hadn’t sunk all my money into that frozen-sperm guy you blogged about a while ago. “High-risk, high-reward”, my foot!!

Also noted: even ignoring net present value calculations, this guy would have to make 1,200,000 pounds in his career just for an investor to make his/her money back.

J, that doesn’t even account for possible share dilution.
Looks like Ebay suspended the auction, though.
