Bad Crash at Pearson Airport

I just read about an awful-looking crash at Pearson Airport in Toronto. It doesn’t look good:

An Air France jet with as many as 200 people aboard has skidded off a runway while landing at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, bursting into flames and sending thick black smoke pouring into the air.

There is no word on the condition of the passengers and crew members on board the A340, with the plane still burning an hour after the 3:50 p.m. crash.

Here’s a blogger who lives very close to the airport.

UPDATE: As Rayne commented, happily, there were no fatalities.

Gord and I were passing Pearson airport on our return from Limberlost at 3.45 p.m. yesterday and he commented that we were so lucky not to be flying out that p.m. as the thunderstorm was ominous. Instead we returned very early this morning with no set-backs. Quite remarkable.
