Periods Make All the Difference on the Web
As the CBC Unplugged site reports, the folks at the head office made a teensy, weensy error in their full-page ads in national newspapers.
The CBC ad told people to go to cbc.negotiations.ca when, in fact, the address is cbcnegotiations.ca. The difference is only a period, but it’s a big deal on the Internet. And a common mistake among people who aren’t that familar with the web.
The CBC paid $500 to one (heh) Ebenezer Thevasagayam to buy the URL. Frankly, they’re lucky he didn’t hold them ransom for $50,000. Triple-check your URLs, people.
