Crosby Can’t Catch a Break

Hockey fans may recall how Sidney Crosby’s World Juniors Team Canada jersey was stolen out of his luggage back in January. It was eventually returned to him when the thief’s (rather dimwitted) daughter wore the thing to school.

Now it seems Crosby’s lost another jersey. This time it’s the Pittsburgh Penguins one he wore in his first NHL game. Once again it was stolen out of checked luggage–in this case, Crosby’s father’s. You’d have think the Crosby family would have clued-in by now, and, you know, put the valuable stuff in their carry-on bags.

From what I heard on the WTAE news last night (I’m local to the Pittsburgh area) a massive security audit is taking place now at the airport. It seems that fighting NHL collectibles theft is just as important as making sure gramma doesn’t have a hand grenade in her purse. *shrug*

Why is he even carrying around his jerseys? Doesn’t the team transport and dryclean them for him? That’s just silly.

NetChick: Because he wants them as souveniers? His Team Canada Jersey he got to keep because the tourney was over. He probably asked Mario if he could keep his first-game jersey (I’m sure he’d be able to cover the cost of a new one), and his dad was likely transporting it back to Nova Scotia.
