Seeking a Junior Contract Technical Writer

We’ve got a project starting in late December with which we need some help. We’re looking for a junior writer to do about 40-45 hours of work through the end of January, 2006. If we’re happy with your work, there will no doubt be more projects in 2006.

By junior we mean that you’ve had a couple of years experience in the industry, and understand the tools and terminology. You’ll be assisting a senior writer on a project. We’d definitely prefer it if you lived in Vancouver or area, but it’s not essential. We don’t want to hear from you if you’ve been a technical writer forever and wrote the help system for Windows 3.1.

If you are such a person, or know anybody who fits these criteria, drop me an email.

  1. Tony Says:

What have you got against the Windows 3.1 help system?

  2. Darren Says:

Heh, nothing. However, if you wrote that help system, I certainly can’t afford you. And, of course, you’re probably either retired or still working for Microsoft.

  3. Amanda Says:

Can the applicant telecommute for this contract? I live in the Vancouver area but am already working full-time as a tech writer. I use RoboHelp and write content for the online help for our software. My background is sociology and computer systems technology, and I’ve had a lot of technical communication training, as well. I’m actually in the process of looking for new opportunities in the new year.

  4. Darren Says:

Amanda: For this project, I’m not sure yet. Feel free to pass along your resume, though, as there will no doubt be other work where telecommuting is possible.

  5. Syed Says:

    Hello,

I am looking for a job in technical communication, earleir I have been working with a software company as a technical writer; I surely would be encouraged to hear from the gurus here.

    Regards
