Coldplay Apparently Sucked
I almost never hear negative reviews of pop and rock concerts. I don’t think it’s because of people’s musical ignorance, but rather because they have spent a good chunk of money and have high expectations. They’re determined to have a good time. A time which frequently has little to do with the musicianship or stage presence of the band.
So, Jen’s rant on the lameness that was Coldplay at GM Place was a breath of fresh air:
Bottom line, there was not only nothing impressive, but there was no theme or continuity to their stage show, which is absolutely essential in a stadium show, where the artist wants to reach the person in the top row at the very back, just as much as the person front row centre.
I saw my fair share back in the day, but for all the reasons Jen cites, I hope my stadium concert days are over. Speaking of which, this morning I just got great seats to see Sarah Harmer at the Stanley Theatre in April.
