Tap the Digg Zeitgeist

As you probably know, Digg is a popular technology (though other topics regularly sneak in) social-bookmarking site that’s rapidly out-pacing Slashdot for thoroghness and timeliness.

Digg Spy provides a real-time view of Digg in action, listing newly selected links as they appear. And they appear at a pretty insane rate–nearly one a second, by my watch. Does this have a practical purpose? Not really, but it’s nifty to see what’s rolling by at a given moment. It’s a particular type of voyeurism. In fact, I remember Excite offered a similar real-time view called Search Voyeur, but they closed it years ago. Do any of the search engines display search terms like this?

Caught that on Rocketboom this morning too. I had never even looked at Digg before today.
