Boris, Kris and Robert are living it up in Torino. Among other things, they’re running this symposium thingy on Olympics and Web 2.0. They invited me along, but I couldn’t make it.
Now I’m regretting that decision a little, because I see that they’re sitting in the stands watching Team Canada play Germany in men’s hockey. Kris and Robert, of course, are taking tons of photos. I they get to the gold medal hockey game, I’m going to have to beat them to death with a goalie stick upon their return.
I don’t follow Ice Hockey, but I caught a fair sized chunk of the Canada Germany game earlier.
Lets not lie here, in my terms its like making the Brazilian football team play in the 3 division of English football. They made Germany look like a bunch of school kids. There isn’t from watching that, anyway you aren’t going to win the competition…
*Unless as I suspect USA and Russia may be competent at the sport too?*
Chris: At the moment, there are really seven relatively comparably ice hockey nations:
Russia
USA
Canada
Czech Republic
Finland
Sweden
Slovakia
They tend to want 10 teams for a tournament, so teams #8 – 10 tend to get slaughtered. That said, yesterday Latvia did tie the US, and today I understand that the Swiss actually beat the Czechs. So, maybe there’s more parity than we think.
