Sno-Baller Looks Like Sno-Fun

Is this the least necessary device that humankind has ever created? Must we mechanize and automate every aspect of our lives, even down to the simplest, oldest games? Courtesy of Cool Tools, I give you the Sno-Baller:

I like the juxtaposition of the phrases “pummel your enemies” and “great family fun”.

About the only thing I can imagine it for is some planned winter event involving snowballs. Like if it was a community event where you needed like 1000 snowballs. This could be really useful for that.

Otherwise, “hold on, my snowball maker is stuck!” just seems … Well, hilarious to me ;-)

Nope…the least necessary device is Starfrit’s “Empanada Maker”. That ad still makes me laugh…all it does is fold the dough and crimp the edge.

As someone who makes empanadas quasi-regularly, I can tell you that such a product’s effect on the process is negligible. Possibly even detrimental, since you have to lift the empanada into the device first.

Maybe it would be less sissy as a giant melon baller or ice cream scooper. What’s the deal with snow touching your gloves?

What about this bad boy? PVC pipe sections and mini marshmallows. I have some user experience with this device and it is great for distance. Check out the marshmallow launcher on Amazon.ca

That said, the snowballer solves a non-problem and tries to cover the fact with nonsense marketing, as others have pointed out. And like empanadas, it might actually slow you down in the actual task of throwing (the snowball, not the empanada).
