Photos from the World Cup in Five Languages

Alas, the Ivorians failed to stand up to the Argentinian onslaught yesterday. Ah, well, there’s plenty more football to play.

I’m watching a bit of the Netherlands vs. Serbia-Montenegro game. At first, I thought the arean was half empty. Then I realized that huge swathes of the crowd were wearing orange. I went looking for a photo on Flickr, but couldn’t find one. I did find about ten thousand other photos, though.

The following are photos for the tag worldcup. You may also be interested in coupedemonde, weltmeisterschaft, copadomundo and coppadelmondo. I’m pretty sure I got those terms correct, but I’m surprised there are so few photos for France and Italy. Maybe there’s some other more prominent tag? Maybe Flickr doesn’t have much marketshare in those countries?

Ivory Coast put up a great fight and looked far more capable going forward than the likes of England. I’m looking forward to their next match.

Thanks! I thought the seats were empty too, glad to know where I went wrong.
Also, Darren: thanks for the bit of RolyPoly soccer last year; I’m having a blast watching the games and I’m sure its partially due to having that bit of a feel for it.
