Lee and Sachi in Hanoi

Whenever somebody asks me about a travel blog, I immediately point them to Lee and Satchi’s around-the-world trip at www.theworldisnotflat.com. They’re currently in Hanoi, Vietnam, and made a cool two and a half minute video that gives you a sense of what life is like there. It also features Lee in one of those ubiquitous straw hats (I went looking for the Vietnamese word, but came up blank–anyone?):

You can also check out a video dispatch from a typhoon in Macau, China.

Looks like the Hats may be called “Non La”

  2. Lee Says:

    Hey Darren!
We sometimes have a problem understanding the local pronunciation, but we heard the hat being called a “nang”. In English in Vietnam it is generally referred to with the dull but descriptive name “conical hat”.
Thanks for the links. More videos coming soon! :)
