Watch James Catch a Salmon

James Catches a SalmonHaving mastered snorkling for crabs, I decided to move on to fishing. Outdoorsy James is once again my able guide, and we’ve been fishing twice. This morning we were in the Squamish River when James caught his first salmon of the season. Happily, I was on dry land defrosting my feet so I snapped a bunch of photos. Click the picture to watch the slideshow.

I went home emptyhanded, but I’m not discouraged. The third time’s a charm, maybe? James kindly offered to take a photo of me holding his fish, but that seemed ingenuine.

There’s a funny story about the fly that caught this fish, but I imagine James will post that to Think Salmon.

UPDATE: James (the sixth occurrence of his name in this entry) sent me this interesting post by Freakonomics author Steven Levitt about the connection between economics and fishing.
