The Governor General Has a Blog

While in Ottawa last week, I learned that Canada’s Governor General has a blog. She apparently writes it herself. From her latest entry:

Today, Canada stands at Algeria’s sides, supporting her efforts to achieve national reconciliation and her determination to pull together the conditions necessary for stability. Algeria remains focused on the life forces that are essential to ensuring its full development and to paving the way towards prosperity for all.

Hmm…that sounds a lot like a speech writer, but then I don’t know what Ms. Jean’s authentic written voice sounds like in the first place.

Remember, she was a journalist, for Radio-Canada. Elitist and very snobby about language. :)

And it’s not just a personal blog, but the GG of Canada’s blog, so having a more official tone is understandable.

And yet the blog is in an environment that looks targeted at alternative culture, rebellion, and young people with good taste in rock music. Well, at least it doesn’t look boring.

It’s understanding that it’s a little more official sounding than say DarrenBarefoot.com, but you’re right that it sounds all too much like a speech writer.

This is interesting. I searched for the Governor General and found this site. I think we were at the same conference. I have tried to establish a private blog within my own place of work but it seems a bit ‘fussy’ and tempermental. Are you aware of any blogs on government intranets?
