Fake Friends For Your MySpace Account?

Via maikopunk, here’s a rather patethic product offering. Don’t have enough actually ‘friends’ (meaning publically listed contacts) on MySpace, Facebook and the like? No problem. Go ahead and rent some from Fake Your Space (warning, the gallery pages are safe for work, but look a little porny):

You have found a new and exciting service which offers help to all the men and women out there who don’t feel like they are popular enough on social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Frienster, and Consumating . If you are tired of seeing everyone else with the hottest friends and want some hotties of your own, then this is the place for you.

Not surprisingly, all the rentable friends are total lookers, and both genders apparently like to cavort in bikinis and briefs.

As more and more companies get into MySpace, I can see them taking advantage of this service. Exxon doesn’t want to launch a MySpace page without some friends, right?

This is just a variation on the Chinese gold farmers, workers in developing nations who play World of Warcraft and Lineage all day to generate virtual products saleable in the real world.

What’s the equivalent in Second Life? Can I build bots that look like real avatars, but just hang around and make my project look more popular? You know, like the inflatable dummies of virtual worlds?

Did you have a look at Date My Pet too?

    Pretty pathetic. But I guess it’s a niche… ;)

I like the “Can I pick my friends?” section. Sort of brings to mind the old adage “You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can’t wipe your friends on the couch.”

Which is about the level of my opinion of MySpace, coincidentally.
