Idea Du Jour: Blogger’s Birthday
I’m not big on random blog traffic trading widgets like Blog Explosion, but today (while having the most splendid solo walk along the Canal du Midi) I thought of one. Call it BloggersBirthday.com. It goes like this:
- You visit BloggersBirthday.com, and register by entering your name, email address, date of birth, blog URL and a one-line description of your site into a form.
- On (and/or just before) your birthday, BB.com sends you a bit of javascript which you can include in a blog post.
- When you post the javascript to your blog, it displays a list of links to other bloggers who share your birthday. Voila, instant, serendipitous link and traffic exchange.
- ?
- Profit.
It’s also a fairly altruistic way to announce that it’s your birthday on your blog.
Another way to announce that it’s your birthday is to devise a birthday-related traffic exchange idea, and write about it.
If anybody wants to go build this thing, go nuts. I just want 10% of your profits. Of course, such a thing might very well already exist. In that case, I just want to know what step four is.
