A Great Cover of “Jump”

I’m not sure how I acquired it, but I just listened to this terrific version of Van Halen’s “Jump” by a Scottish band from the eighties called Aztec Camera.

According to Wikipedia, the song was a B-side for an American single release in 1984. The rhythm reminds me slightly of Rilo Kiley’s “The Frug”, which is also a pretty cool song:

Coming from a UK post-punk background, this was an ironic, tounge-in-check choice of song to cover (if not a direct piss-take).

Also definitely worth checking out is their album ‘Love’ which has some terrific, up-beat romantic pop songs that have great melodies and lyrics, and manage to avoid being clichéd.
