iMove (or is it i-Move…branding, people!) is a new Translink website designed, I gather, to help commuters figure out how to get from point A to point B in Vancouver. It’s loading like a dog for me at the moment, so I can’t tell you much more about it.
I can, however, tell you that Lee and Sachi at Common Craft made this great one-minute introduction to the service:
Hah! I love it. When I loaded the site I got a warning that said:
“iMove uses Google Maps to display traveller information. There are known performance and stability issues with Internet Explorer and Google Maps. We strongly recommend using another browser such as Firefox (http://www.firefox.com) or Safari (http://www.apple.com/safari/download/) to browse the site until these issues are resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I user Firefox for normal browsing, but RssBandit uses embedded IE for rendering. The site loaded very quickly for me, but isn’t at all useful since I live across the water in Victoria.

TW Burger I have been informed that i-move.ca has cost the tax payers of BC about one million dollars. It provides no road or transit information that is not available elsewhere and most of the links simply go to those other sites. I am a programmer and Web developer. I could have put together this glorified portal site for under $10,000 in less than two months.
This is an embarrassment. The money could have been spent on badly needed new buses.
