Items pertaining specifically to my fair city.

On Sunday afternoon, I drove Highway 97C from Merritt to Kelowna to see a dear old friend. It was a gorgeous day and the highway was empty. Having not been in the interior of the province for several years, I was stunned by its beauty. The terrain is this gorgeous earth tone impressionist painting, and the country rolls along in these lazy hills that seem to go on forever.

I need a digital camera. Or a camera phone. Or both.

On Saturday, I went hiking in Mount Seymour Park. This was the first time I'd been in the rain forest since returning from Ireland, and I've missed it. Its verdant growth is so familiar to me. When we got to Dog Mountain, we had a fantastic view of the entire lower mainland.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that, halfway down from Merritt, I stopped in for some food. There was a shop across the street with a great sign in the window. It read:

HOPE MACHINE SHOP

Of course, I was in the town of Hope, but it got me thinking...what does a hope machine look like? And does it make hope or consume it?
