Matthew Bissett, Artistic Director

Matthew launches Epicentre Theatre with over eight years of directing and acting experience on the West Coast. After training in Theatre at the University of Victoria, Bissett directed the smash hit Mystery of Irma Vep for Victoria's Langham Court and Blackguard Theatre, and The Land, The Animals for theatreSKAM. Bissett recently directed the critically-acclaimed Cowboy Mouth at the Looking Glass Theatre in Vancouver, a number of short plays in the IMPolite Company's This Hour Has 22 Playlets, and Epicentre Theatre's inaugural production, See Bob Run & Wild Abandon.

Julie Szabo, General Manager

   Julie graduated from the University of Victoria with a degree in Writing. She brings experience as a graphic designer, journalist, editor and communications consultant to Epicentre.

Darren Barefoot, General Manager

  Darren graduated from the University of Victoria with a double-major in Writing and Theatre. He has worked in every part of the theatre world--director, lighting designer, stage manager, reviewer and playwright. In February of 1998, he received a provincical playwright's grant from Theatre Intrepid. He's currently putting the finishing touches on two one-act plays about faith, to premiere with Epicentre in May of 1999.
